From the studio

Overseas Media Group names Kit Carson Mobley Digital Platform Architect and Lead Web Developer

FLORIDA KEYS, Sept. 15, 2026. Overseas Media Group, the studio inside Keys Weekly Media, has named Kit Carson Mobley its Digital Platform Architect and Lead Web Developer. Kit writes the code and ships the sites: client websites, booking engines, hosting, and the platform this site runs on.

Kit has been building for the web for 30 years. He was a Flash developer in the late ’90s, built the first Ultra Music Festival websites in 2000 and 2001, and served as senior creative director for the Winter Music Conference. As vice president of marketing at theglobe.com, he built tgloFriends, an early online community with voice calling built in, and is named on two patents from that work: US 6,999,458 for an internet telephony network and EP 1836591 A2 for a web-based instant messenger.

At Tribune Digital he moved from applications developer to software engineer and architect, and led the move to Amazon Web Services for six newspapers: the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, Sun-Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel and Hartford Courant.

A captain who builds

Off the keyboard, Kit is a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain. He started as a mate on DirtyBoat in 2015 and now owns and runs the boat, a 42-foot charter out of Robbie’s Marina in Islamorada. He has been Robbie’s webmaster since 2016, sits on the board of the Islamorada Charterboat Association and is vice president of S.A.F.E. (South Atlantic Fishing Environmentalists).

That second life shows up in the work. Kit builds for Keys businesses the way he would want his own built, because he runs one. DirtyBoat’s website, booking engine, CRM and AI booking mate are his, and they are one of our case studies.

What he does at OMG

Kit leads OMG’s web builds on a modern stack (Astro, Tailwind, Netlify, Supabase and Stripe) and runs the AI tooling that lets a small studio ship like a big one. His first big project is a rebuild of overseasmediagroup.com around the studio’s clients and its new brand.
